Mexican sunflower
Flower of the day: Mexican Sunflower (Tithonia Rotundifolia). This is our second year growing Mexican Sunflowers and they just keep getting better! These brightly colored flowers are small in comparison to their cousins, but where they lack in size… they make up for it in beauty. Super bright and soft they are the superstars of most bouquets! They started in Mexico and have made their way into the southwestern United States over time. They love the intense sun and are hearty growers in our varying weather. They have been used for so many different things… like, seriously USED! From building material to land demarcation, to roosting fowl. We love their unique coloring and sturdy, velvety stems. They add an unexpected cheerfulness anywhere you put them! And the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds feast on them! We grow a variety of sunflowers at the farm… but these are our little, early blooming super stars of their family. Feel free to ask us to stick them in any order you make with us… because here at Rainbow Springs Flower Farm we aim to bring the brightness and joy that we see every day into all of your lives. We are here to grow joy… and share it with all of you.
